Call for Workforce Capabilities and Partnership

The Microelectronics Workforce Partnership is a demand-driven collaboration to build the skilled workforce needed to support growth in microelectronics manufacturing across the Minneapolis–Saint Paul (MSP) region. Employers are working together with education and workforce partners to co-create solutions aligned with their shared hiring and training needs.   

Six employers started in early 2026 by assessing where they had the largest shared hiring needs and the largest potential for collaborative solutions. The initial focus of the Microelectronics Workforce Partnership is on two manufacturing roles with more than 800 expected job openings by the end of 2027: operator-assemblers and equipment maintenance technicians.  

Future phases may include additional microelectronics employers and additional   manufacturing roles.  

We are now entering the next phase with a Call for Workforce Capabilities and Partnership. This phase focuses on collaborating with training providers, funders, government agencies, and community partners to identify the capabilities, facilities, ideas, people, programs and funding solutions to meet this near-term hiring demand.  

We’re seeking to advance both immediate actions such as outreach to recent graduates and current job seekers, and scalable long-term solutions including new training and career pathway programs.
