Introducing The MSP Economic Pulse

Posted by Laura McCarthy  |  Monday, August 26, 2019

WHAT: Each month, GREATER MSP will release an overview of key economic indicators for the Greater MSP region. This provides a quick, but comprehensive, snapshot at how the region’s economy is performing. It includes data about:

  • Employment
  • Unemployment
  • Strength of major industries
  • Wages
  • Job postings

Quarterly, we will also release a companion video diving deeper into a trend or topic around which GREATER MSP has additional insights. First up: medical equipment and supplies manufacturing. This sector is showing increased strength—a good sign that future employment in this industry may trend upward.

WHO: Amanda Taylor, Director of Research for GREATER MSP

Amanda provides intelligence and analytical expertise to inform business relocation and expansion efforts, plus other initiatives designed to accelerate economic competitiveness and growth across the Greater MSP region. Prior to joining GREATER MSP, Amanda was a site selection consultant and director of research with McCallum Sweeney Consulting. • Master of City and Regional Planning from Clemson University
  • American Institute of Certified Planners Award
  • Accredited LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate

WHEN: The timing of the release of national data needed to analyze Greater MSP’s economic indicators can vary. However, the MSP Economic Pulse will generally be released in the second half of the month for two months prior.

Our first report measures economic performance in June 2019.
